If everyone contributed $1 a day, we could eliminate the federal debt

A year or two ago, a lady wrote you a letter expressing her concern about the federal debt. I was also thinking about that and wondering why no one was doing anything about it. The United States is said to be the richest nation in the world, and we can't clear up a debt that has to be affecting the economy.

I have a suggestion. The U.S. has a population of approximately 323 million, according to the computer. What if everyone would voluntarily contribute $30 a month ($1 a day), which could only be used to pay the debt and not be used for anything else? I am willing to pledge $100 a month to show I am serious. When I can find out where to send the check, I will make it out. If millionaires want to give a million or more, that would help tremendously.

If we pay off the national debt, the government will save interest, which benefits everyone.

It is not all the government’s fault. We ask for better roads, better schools, free college, etc. What we ask for has to be paid for. If we could see a graph and see our progress, I’m sure we would be surprised at what we can accomplish.

Let’s get the ball rolling. This is a new year. Let’s do something Washington can't do! Let’s all get united for the United States. It may take a few years, but that is better than doing nothing.
